This Week, We’re Drinking More Water. Join Us.

Small, consistent efforts can profoundly impact our personal lives. At Amida Wealth, we see these principles as a pathway to achieving harmony across the five pillars of wealth: health, career, finances, relationships, and personal growth.

This week, the Amida team took on a weekly challenge to drink more water… join us.

It sounds simple. Almost too simple. And yet, so many of the things that support our wealth being™ begin with the simple practices we return to every day. This links back to Achieving Harmony in the Five Pillars of Wealth: The 212 Degree Approach.

A glass of water before the first meeting. A refill between errands. A pause in the middle of the afternoon before reaching for another coffee. A pitcher on the desk, not as a rule to obey, but as a gentle reminder that the body is always part of the conversation.

Hydration is one of those quiet forms of care that can easily be overlooked. We tend to think about water when we are thirsty, exercising, traveling, or spending time in warmer weather. But our need for water is not seasonal only. It is daily. It supports the body’s natural rhythm, helps regulate temperature, supports digestion, and gives our minds and bodies what they need to move through the day with more steadiness.

At Amida, we often speak of wealth as the harmony among the different areas of life. Health, relationships, finances, career, and personal growth do not exist separately from one another. The way we care for the body can shape the way we show up in decisions, conversations, work, family life, and rest.

Drinking more water is not a cure-all. It is not a wellness performance. It is a small act of self-respect.

And sometimes, small acts are exactly where momentum begins.

So, how much water do you actually need?

There is no perfect number that applies to every person. Your body’s needs may change depending on your age, activity level, climate, health, medications, and the foods you eat. Many people have heard the familiar recommendation of eight glasses a day, and for some, that can be a helpful starting point. Others may need more, especially during warm weather, exercise, travel, or long days spent moving between commitments.

A softer way to approach hydration is to become more attentive.

Are you going long stretches without drinking anything?
Do you feel tired, foggy, or headachy in the afternoon?
Are you confusing thirst with hunger or reaching for sugar when your body may be asking for water?
Are you drinking most of your fluids late in the day, instead of supporting your body steadily?

Hydration does not have to become another thing to track perfectly. It can become a rhythm. A gentle structure. A way of asking, “What would support me right now?”

Our challenge this week is simple: make water more visible.

  • Put a glass beside your bed so your first sip is easy.
  • Keep a bottle or pitcher near your workspace.
  • Add lemon, cucumber, mint, berries, or citrus if beauty helps you drink more.
  • Make herbal tea in the afternoon and let it count as care.
  • Eat more water-rich foods like cucumbers, citrus, leafy greens, berries, tomatoes, and melon.
  • Refill your glass as soon as it is empty.
  • Pair water with something you already do, like taking vitamins, starting a meeting, school drop-off, or making lunch.

The goal is not to force yourself into a rigid routine. The goal is to remove the friction.

Because sometimes the thing that helps us care for ourselves is not more motivation. It is better design.

A beautiful glass. A visible pitcher. A reminder on the calendar. A bottle in the car. A ritual before coffee. A sip before every transition.

These small cues matter because daily life is full. We forget. We rush. We override the body’s signals until they become louder. Hydration asks us to come back sooner, more gently, and more often.

Water as a pause

One of the fresh insights we are sitting with this week is that drinking water is not only about physical hydration. It can also be used as a pause.

Before answering the email.
Before moving into the next meeting.
Before making a decision.
Before reacting.
Before pushing through.

Take a sip. Breathe. Come back into your body.

In that way, water becomes more than a health habit. It becomes a practice of presence.

And presence is deeply connected to how we live, lead, care, and make decisions.

Join us this week

For the next seven days, we are choosing to drink more water with intention.

Not perfectly.
Not competitively.
Not because we need another rule.

But because our bodies carry us through every part of life, and they deserve to be supported in simple, consistent ways.

So here is the invitation: pour a glass of water now. Keep it close. Refill it when it is empty. Notice how your body responds.

Sometimes, caring for your future self begins with something as small as what is in your glass today.
