Humans and Mother Earth are intimately connected in a complex and symbiotic relationship. Earth provides us with the resources we need to survive and thrive. Such as; clean air, fresh water, nourishing food, and a safe shelter. In turn, we impact the earth’s ecosystems and natural cycles. In other words, the relationship between humans and Mother Earth is one of interdependence. We rely on each-other for survival and well-being.
It is important that we honor this relationship by taking care of the earth and using its resources responsibly. The month of April is all about Earth Month. Please join us, as we celebrate useful strategies to inspire prosperity for yourself and future generations. This is living a life of wealth.
Earth Month Prosperity
April is Earth Month, this is because it coincides with Earth Day on April 22nd. Earth Day is a globally recognized event that began in 1970 and is now celebrated in over 190 countries. The purpose of Earth Day is to raise awareness about environmental issues. Earth Day encourages communities to take action and protect the planet. So why not celebrate the earth all month long?
During Earth Month, people and organizations around the world engage in various activities to promote sustainability and environmental protection. This includes things like planting trees, cleaning up litter, reducing energy consumption, promoting recycling, and advocating for policies that protect the environment. Earth Month provides an opportunity for individuals and communities to come together and celebrate Mother Nature. Above all, we unite to protect it.
Two Simple Ways To Celebrate Mother Earth
Before taking action, we must recognize the importance of what Mother Earth represents. First, this begins with spending time in nature. Studies have shown that spending time in nature can reduce stress, improve mood, boost cognitive function, and increase physical activity. Being in nature has also been linked to lower rates of depression and anxiety, as well as better immune function and cardiovascular health.
Humans evolved in natural environments and our bodies and minds are adapted to the natural world. Therefore, being in nature can help to restore and rejuvenate our physical and mental health. In other words, nature is incredibly powerful. Next time you have 15 minutes to yourself, instead of taking out your phone, consider stepping outside and doing Amida’s 5 minute Earth Month Meditation. You can do this meditation whether you are outside or inside.
Mother Earth Meditation
- Find a comfortable seated position. Close your eyes and take a deep breath in through your nose, and exhale through your mouth. Do this breathe exercise 10 times. Once you have completed 10 breathes, begin to simply breathe in and out through your nose.
- If you are inside, take a moment to imagine yourself surrounded by nature. Perhaps in a forest or by a river. Feel the fresh air on your skin and the sun shining down on you. If you are outside, embrace the elements of Mother Earth – the sun, air, sounds, birds. Tap into all of your sensations.
- As you continue to breathe, imagine roots growing out of your body and reaching deep into the earth below you. Feel yourself becoming grounded and connected to the earth. Reconnect to all of your ancestral wisdom, just like the roots of a tree seeing so much life for hundreds of years.
- Visualize a bright, green light glowing at the base of your spine, representing your connection to the earth. Feel this energy flowing through you and nourishing your body and mind. You are so deeply intertwined with Mother Nature. Your veins, like the rivers and streams of the earth.
- Take a few more deep breaths, imagining yourself surrounded by the beauty and power of the natural world. When you’re ready, slowly open your eyes and return to your day, carrying this sense of connection with you.
Walk Barefoot
Another way, to reconnect back to nature, is to ground your energy. Grounding, also called earthing, is a therapeutic technique that involves doing activities that “ground” or reconnect you back to the earth. This practice relies on earthing science and grounding physics to explain how electrical charges from the earth can have positive effects on the body. Emerging scientific research supports the concept that the Earth’s electrons induce multiple physiological changes of clinical significance. This includes reduced pain, better sleep, and a shift from sympathetic to parasympathetic tone in the autonomic nervous system. When you walk barefoot on the earth your body picks up free ions from earth’s surface that act as antioxidants in your system. Walking barefoot, 30 minutes a day, can not only reconnect us back to nature but also enhance our mental and physical wellness. Thank you Mother Earth!
